Helping Out Pets Everyday, Inc (HOPE) is an All-Volunteer 501c3 Non-Profit Corporation located in Upland, CA dedicated to and continually rescuing and saving homeless, abandoned at risk cats and dogs of euthanasia. Just recently, HOPE hosted a dinner/dance “At the Hop” fundraiser with a live band performance which we were so delighted to sponsor and attend. Margaret Coffman, President of HOPE had these kind words to say:
“It was a pleasure to have the support and attendance of The John P. Previti Memorial Foundation at our recent fundraiser, At The Hop, on Saturday, March 5, 2016. It was wonderful to work together with you on behalf of the dogs and cats in need of our assistance.”
Margaret also wanted to share the moving story of two recently rescued dogs, Harry & Sally:
“They were abandoned by their owners who moved out of state and vacated their apartment. They didn’t abandon them in their apartment, they abandoned them in the locked storage facility that came with their apartment. A realtor found them locked in the windowless space with food sprawled across the unit. They were covered in urine and feces. That’s when she contacted HOPE.
Harry needed extensive dental work and was also a double cryptorchid, which means both testicles were not descended. (Cryptorchidism is the medical term that refers to the failure of one or both testicles (testes) to descend into the scrotum.) So not only did Harry need to have his teeth cleaned and have baby teeth extracted, he also needed a more expensive surgery to locate and remove the two undescended testicles. He was also malnourished. He only weighed about 4 lbs when we rescued him.
Sally came to us in heat, so we had to wait a number of weeks before she could be spayed. She has never walked on a leash so she is fearful of a leash and for that matter, people, too. Our team is working with her to help her overcome her fears. She talks with a growl, so we’re working on that, too, so that she can eventually be adopted.”
