Boys & Girls Club of Fontana prepare students for school

Another school year has begun and for so many underprivileged families that means the financial struggle to prepare their students for class.  The John P. Previti Memorial Foundation recently donated towards the Boys & Girls Club of Fontana to help supply students with the essential tools they need in order to be prepared and productive in school, which in turn gives them confidence among their peers. Within a five-mile radius of the Club Sites there are approximately 15,000 youth between the ages of 7 to 17 years. Over 85% of the youth that the Clubs provides programs and services receive free or reduced lunch; 23% of the families served are single parents and are living with incomes below the poverty level.  The Boys & Girls Club of Fontana serves over 300 youth each day.

“For many of the youth that attend the Club daily, being able to go to school with a new backpack filled with supplies is all they need to stay on track. Having school supplies they need helps keep kids focused and learning at school. Thanks to the foundation’s funding school supplies and backpacks were given to youth who would otherwise not have a backpack to start school with.” – Terrie Schneider, Chief Professional Officer
